Fall brings with it some exciting changes: cooler temperatures, seasonal beverages , new tech products , and of course, fashion.
With stores introducing soft sweaters, warm coats, and leather boots – not to mention the whirlwind of “fashion month” taking over New York City, Paris, London, and Milan – it’s time to start thinking about what’s in your closet.
In order to track down the latest trends for this fall and beyond, we asked Pinterest to comb through their user to data to find out what’s popular on the platform.
With 200 million active users and counting – the majority of whom are women – Pinterest has a pretty good picture of what women are excited about wearing in October, November, and beyond.
1. Fishnet tights
Fishnet tights remain a trend for this fall, and Pinterest has noticed interest in the trend skyrocketing: Searches for fishnets are up 318% since last year.
2. High-neck shirts
The trend toward more covered-up clothing in women’s fashion continues this fall with Victorian collar shirts. The style — which gets its name from the high-neck dresses of the Victorian era — has gotten a major boost over the past several months, and it’s reflected on Pinterest, too: Searches for high-neck shirts are up 132% year-over-year, according to Pinterest.
3. Button-down dress
Searches for button-down dresses have seen a 96% increase since last year, according to Pinterest. The style is versatile and can be worn in a shift style — like the dress pictured above, which also incorporates the embroidery trend — or in a more structured, shirt-dress style.
4. Wide-leg pants
Wide-leg pants are a perennial fall favorite and this year is no different. Both full-length and ankle-length styles are popular in an array of colors, fabrics, and patterns. Overall, searches for wide-leg pants are up 89% since last year, according to Pinterest.

A brand-new trend is in for this season: A 2017 take on utility jumpsuits. The one-piece look mainly just looks a lot like coveralls, but with a more feminine fit and modern details.
Pinterest has seen an
82% uptick in searches for “jumpsuits,” “utility,” and “boiler” in the last year.
7. Long layers
Layering is always popular for fall as an easy way to dress for the constantly changing temperatures. But there’s a new trend for this season to freshen things up: Duster jackets. The long, lightweight coats can be worn over anything from jeans to dresses and have slowly been gaining popularity over the last few seasons.
Pinterest has noticed a
31% increase in searches for dusters since last year.
8. Round purses
If you’re looking to up your accessories game this fall, round purses are an easy and inexpensive place to start. The silhouette is popular in cross-body bags in a range of colors and materials.
Pinterest has seen a
48% increase year-over-year in searches for round purses.
9. Vintage faux fur
While fur is popular every fall and winter, this year, we’ll see a resurgence in vintage-inspired coats and accessories in faux fur. Think cropped jackets with wide collars — like the one pictured above — or 70s-era shag coats in bright colors.

54% rise in searches for vintage faux fur.
10. Slingback heels
Vintage-inspired slingback heels are on trend this fall in styles ranging from tall block heels to pointy-toe kitten heels. Pinterest has seen a 31% increase in searches for the style since last year.
Velvet came back in vogue last fall and winter, and the trend seems to have staying power. The plush fabric is often seen in jewel towns or grays and blacks, and is used on anything from dresses to accessories to full suits.
The increased interest this season in velvet is two-fold: Pinterest has noticed an
31% increase since last year in searches for the trend generally, and a 44% increase in searches for velvet shoes in particular.
12. Ruffled sleeves
Ruffles — like those pictured above — are making a big comeback for fall in the form of sweaters and tops. Pinterest has seen interest in the trend rise 118% year-over-year.
Embroidery has been a growing trend for a few seasons, and this fall is no different. The trend includes elaborate floral stitching like the photo above, or a simple phrase sewn onto T-shirts and sweaters.

increased 51% since last year.
14. 70s plaids
Plaid is almost always popular for fall, particularly in shirts and coats. But this fall is seeing a resurgence in 70s plaid, a slightly different take on traditional Tartan. Plaid from the 70s typically has a larger check, or comes in varied colors like rainbow hues or muted fall tones.
Pinterest has seen an uptick in saved pins featuring 70s plaid — they’re
up 112% year over year.
15. Brocade fabric
